Leadership: Supervise/manage/direct the selection, training, development, appraisal,
and work assignments of personnel.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
POSITION PURPOSE: To enhance the quality of life of Enid residents and attract tourists through the development, coordination, and maintenance of a recreational park system and by preventing flooding through an effective storm water drainage system.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Associate’s Degree (A.A.) or equivalent two-year college or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES: Department of Agriculture Spraying license (within 1 year).
Local tree trimming license.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Administration and Management- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
Computer- Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record-keeping, routine database activity to include development of spreadsheets, formulas, record tracking applications, word processing, graphics, etc.
SKILLS/ABILITIES Intermediate tree care knowledge and landscape design.
Basic understanding of playground and park safety principles.
Handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Accurate and attentive to detail.
Excellent communications and public relations abilities.
Basic typing and computer application skills.
Ability to assist and support others.
Able to operate telephone, PC, copier, and other basic business machines.
FINGER DEXTERITY: Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with the fingers, and perceives attributes of objects and materials.
VISUAL ABILITIES: Normal vision, with or without corrective lenses.
PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Exerts up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally. Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily product/technical nature. Frequent reaching, handling, lifting, and carrying.
LANGUAGE/COMPREHENSION: Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form.
MATHEMATICS ABILITY: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
WORK SCHEDULE/HOURS: Regular- 8 hour shift, typically 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday - Friday.
Other – Salaried position requiring occasional attendance at meetings after hours and the ability to respond personally or by phone to address problems that may develop after normal work hours.
WORK CONDITIONS: Outdoors exposed to changing weather conditions (rain, sun, wind, snow, etc.)
Noise level: Loud. Hearing protection as required.
