POSITION REPORTS TO: Construction Manager and Director of Engineering
Leadership: Supervise work through the planning and scheduling of work, and review and approval.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
POSITION PURPOSE: To provide improved quality of life for Enid residents by providing all surveying information for municipal improvement projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Graduate of a surveying program of four (4) years or more; or any combination of education and experience satisfying the Oklahoma State Board of Licensure.
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES: Professional Surveying License and listed with the Oklahoma State Board of Licensure.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Mathematics — Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, and geometry, and their applications.
Engineering and Technology — Knowledge of the practical application of land surveying. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to obtain data for project management.
Building and Construction — Basic knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings and structures such as highways and roads.
Survey — Knowledge of surveying techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
SKILLS/ABILITIES: Ability to use Total Station, TDS data collector, and a level and rod for surveying and data collection.
Basic ability to use hand tools.
Handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Accurate and attentive to detail.
Good communications and public relations abilities.
Proficient typing and computer application skills.
Ability to assist and support others.
Able to operate telephone, PC, copier, and other basic business machines.
FINGER DEXTERITY: Manual dexterity sufficient to work with the fingers.
VISUAL ABILITIES: Normal vision, with or without corrective lenses.
Close vision, distance vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.
PHYSICAL STRENGTH: PDC Level: Medium Employee lifts/carries 45 lbs. occasionally (less than 33% of the time or 1-100 times per day). Heavy physical activity performing strenuous daily activities of a product/technical nature. Lifting and rolling 100 lb. man hole cover. Frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, balancing, climbing and use of arms and hands for handling, reaching, lifting, or carrying objects.
LANGUAGE/COMPREHENSION: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form.
MATHEMATICS ABILITY: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, and coordinates. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
WORK SCHEDULE/HOURS: Regular – 8 hour shift, typically 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday, but may be varied to accommodate construction schedule.
Other–Variable lunch period and breaks in coordination with other personnel.
WORK CONDITIONS: 75% outdoors exposed to changing weather conditions (for instance, rain, sun, snow, wind, etc.). 25% well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.
Noise level: Moderate to Loud. Hearing protection as required.
Other work conditions: Occasional exposure to air contamination such as dust.
Possible exposure to poison ivy, bee stings, and other outdoor hazards.
12+years related experience.
5-7 years related experience.
Master’s Degree in related field.
